First Midtown Committee Meets July 18

The Midtown Committee of the Whole meets on July 18 6:30 pm.

According to the staff report :

“The Midtown consultant team shall provide an overview presentation to the Committee of the Whole outlining the work and studies that will support and serve to refine the Midtown OPA, and engage council in a discussion of the benefits and challenges of the development of a complete urban community that can provide a vibrant and transit-supportive place that can support multiple opportunities to live, work and recreate.”

Our further understanding is the focus for this meeting will be on the Vision for Midtown. The Director of Planning has advised that the population forecasts will be discussed at the August meeting.

We will be following up at this meeting on our requests for :

a public consultation/engagement plan,

the specific process at the Committee for subject matter expert discussions and information sharing on urban design reviews, the public realm, park space, transportation including stakeholder commitments, development density including an impact assessment and third-party review, climate initiatives, community services and a Master Plan.

The Committee of the Whole format allows for public delegations including the opportunity to speak after all registered delegations.

We encourage you to: Stay Involved. Be informed. Share Ideas. Get the facts. Learn what's possible. There's still time to increase liveability in Midtown Oakville. Your involvement and presence have and will continue to make a difference as we strive to “get it right”.

See you on July 18 at 6:30.

Janet and Dave
